STL connection guides

Make connections in existing STL models, then check the fit before printing the full part.

STL-Nudge is a browser tool for adding threads, magnet pockets, heat-set insert holes, tabs and slots, snaps, and splitting oversized models. It takes STL meshes and produces modified STL files or, for split sections, ZIP downloads. Model processing stays in your browser. Importing, editing and generation work signed out; exports require free sign-in.

  1. Add threads to an existing STL

Add a matching threaded hole and male thread to a built-in STL sample, inspect both parts and export with free sign-in.

  2. Choose and calibrate thread clearance

Understand the radial and diametral changes made by STL-Nudge and plan a controlled printed fit ladder.

  3. Troubleshoot thread fit and generation

Separate invalid inputs and mesh-generation errors from slicing and physical assembly problems, with a reproducible recovery example.

What the examples prove

These guides use the current built-in cube/plate sample and original interface screenshots. Software walkthroughs and exported mesh dimensions were checked. Slicer behavior, physical fit and strength were not tested. Read the specific evidence and limits in each guide.

For general controls and source preparation, start with Help. For a new mesh design, source repair or structural validation, use an appropriate CAD, repair or engineering workflow alongside this tool.
